Meet The P.A.s!
Program Assistants with the Pembroke Skating Club provide solid examples and role modelling of skills and techniques begun in the Canskate program and perfected in the StarSkate program.
Providing Real life examples and modelling of skilled skating helps to motivate and build on the dreams of those just beginning to skate.
Through hard work and dedication even our youngest skaters can work towards their dreams of being their best on the ice. We thank our PAs for helping to build on and foster these dreams!

Skate/Blade Care & Sharpening
The sharpening for figure skating is a lot different than the sharpening for recreational or hockey skating.
Figure skate sharpening is such that allows the skaters the proper edges required to do most skating skills.
Trying to do figure skating with a recreational sharpening is like using a pencil to write with no tip.
It does the job but is a lot harder to reach the desired effect.
The frequency of sharpening depends on a few things. How often a skater skates, how well the blade is taken care of and the preference of the skater.
We have a local figure skate sharpener in the area. His name is Greg Wallace and can be reached at 624-401-6462 or you can email him at
Or if in Ottawa you can visit Figure 8 Boutique or B-Sharp for quality sharpenings.
